About Us

It all started when Meazy heard this quote “If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough”

~Rev. Samuel Dunya

Meazy Silva has had a deep passion for starting up something like Children of Abera ever since she was young. When she moved to Ghana for her 13-month study abroad and internship experience in 2020, she took her dreams seriously. She started vision casting and sharing her heart with Mr. and Mrs. Dunya as well as Samuel Dunya Jr. The Dunya’s had a similar vision and heart for their country and communities as well.

After continued conversation, the Dunya’s encouraged her to turn her dreams into reality.

In 2022, Samuel Dunya Jr. and Meazy Silva co-founded Children of Abera.

Meazy Silva

Founder of Children of Abera

Orphaned as a young child in Ethiopia, Meazy Silva was adopted by a family from the United States when she was eight years old. Growing up with a strong faith instilled by her parents, she felt called to help people find hope in Jesus.

In high school, Meazy discovered Bethany Global University and made the move from Maine to Minnesota to explore a career in missions. Meazy spent 13 months of her time at Bethany Global University interning overseas in Ghana, Africa. Before she left, the Lord put it on her heart to build a school and shelter to share the Gospel in the Muslim village where she and her teammates were doing ministry.
